Figures released by the World Steel Association on Monday showed that from January to the end of August 2023, global crude steel production from 63 countries exceeded 1.25 billion mt, a marginal growth of 0.2% compared to the same period last year.
Iran accounted for 19.7 million mt of the global production in the first eight months of this year, registering a 1.1% increase compared to the same period in 2022.
In August, however, Iran produced 1.6 million mt of crude steel, a decline of 24.1% from the same month last year.
Global production stood at 152.6 million mt in August, up 2.2% from August of last year.
