The Iranian general made the remarks in a meeting in Tehran with Russia's Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
He expressed happiness with cooperation between Tehran and Moscow on different regional issues and said that military and defensive cooperation between the two neighboring countries will definitely help international peace and security.
The minister stressed that fighting mutual challenges, including the US unilateralism are among main strategies of Iran and Russia.
Noting that the respect of the territorial integrity of the regional countries and the maintenance of internationally accepted borders are among the redlines of Iran, Ashtiani said that the 3+3 framework would help a peaceful settlement of the issues in the Caucasus region.
The Russian defense minister, for his part, said that constructive interactions between Iran and Russia would ensure peace and stability in the region, calling for more cooperation and efforts to establish a multilateral system.
He said that Russia is active in regional issues and the cooperation of a great country like Iran would help the establishment of peace and security in the region.
The Russian ambassador also visited a permanent exhibition of IRGC achievements where the IRGC missile and drone capabilities were put on display.
