In a statement on Monday, the OIC called the continued incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque by extremist Zionists as an extension of Israel’s repeated violations of the sanctity of the holy places and freedom of worship.
It said the moves offend the feelings of Muslims around the world and is a flagrant violation of the Geneva Conventions and international law.
The OIC reiterated that the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in its entirety, is a pure place of worship for Muslims, calling on the active parties of the international community to assume their responsibilities and put pressure on Zionist regime to stop these repeated cases of violations and to respect the sanctity of the holy places and to preserve the legal and historical status in the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque.
On Sunday, a group of Zionist settlers, supported by security personnel and soldiers, entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque concurrent with holidays marking the Hebrew New Year.
Prior to this, extremist settler groups had called for a large-scale assault on the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the three Hebrew holidays that started on September 17 and will continue until mid-October.
