Tehran, IRNA – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev have met on the sidelines of the 78th UN General Assembly, discussing ways to strengthen bilateral relations between their nations.

Raisi highlighted the significance of Iran and Kazakhstan’s membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and their shared border via the Caspian Sea as key platforms for fostering these relation, emphasizing the potential benefits of increasing bilateral trade exchanges via sea and rail routes for both countries and the region.

Referring to last year’s productive meetings, Raisi urged for accelerated efforts to implement mutual agreements, particularly in economic and trade sectors.

President Tokayev, for his part, acknowledged the vast capacities of both countries and referred to Iran as a strategic partner and close friend of Kazakhstan.

He expressed his country’s eagerness to expedite the implementation of bilateral agreements and welcomed the proposal to enhance trade exchanges, highlighting Iran’s suitable transit capacities.
