Tehran, IRNA – Iranian authorities have intercepted a large consignment of US-made arms and equipment off the coast of Hormozgan province in southern Iran, an Iranian judicial official has announced.

Chief Justice of Hormozgan Province Mojtaba Ghahremani announced the seizure on Sunday and added that the illegal consignment was discovered aboard a cargo vessel shortly after it entered Iran’s southern maritime borders.

Ghahremani highlighted that the consignment included over 6,000 US-made electric shockers, which could potentially be used in unrest.

Iranian intelligence forces had received information about the transfer of the equipment and promptly planned an operation to confiscate the illegal cargo.

According to the official, the judicial district of Bandar Khamir port city coordinated surveillance and intelligence operations, leading to the successful seizure of the shipment.
