Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Alireza Enayati and the kingdom’s Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed Al-Khuraiji have discussed ties between the two countries. The ambassador also handed over Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s letters to the kingdom’s king and crown prince.

Enayati said on Thursday that the Raisi administration is determined to develop Iran’s relations with Saudi Arabia, adding that the two sides should work on expanding their relations in different fields such as politics, economy and security.

The Saudi official, on his part, said that his country is taking steps for developing ties with Iran, and that the two sides share common views in promoting their mutual cooperation.

Earlier on Thursday, Saudi newspaper Okaz reported that King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have received separate letters from the Iranian president.

The two countries resumed their diplomatic relations earlier this year under a China-brokered deal that ended seven years of strained ties over protests in Iran against the execution of top Saudi cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr by Riyadh.
