Tehran, IRNA – Iranian girls have finished first at the 12th Asian Junior Taekwondo Championships held in Beirut, Lebanon, winning a total of nine colorful medals at the regional tournament.

The 10-member national team of Iranian girls won championship by winning 6 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze. Female teams from Thailand and South Korea finished runner-up and third respectively.

The gold medals were won by Saghar Moradi, Aynaz Nasiri, Soghand Shiri, Fereshte Fathi, Ghazal Houshmand, and Niyousha Shadlou.

Aynaz Nasiri was also selected as the most technical Taekwondo player among teenage girls in Asia.

Iran’s Fatemeh Safarpour won the title of the best coach in the continent as well.

In the boys’ section, the Iranian national team finished third by winning 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze. They stood behind Uzbekistan, which finished runner-up, and South Korea which won championship.

The 12th Asian Junior Taekwondo Championships took place from September 2-4 at the Nouhad Naufal Indoor Sports Stadium of the Lebanese capital Beirut.
