Tabriz, IRNA – East Azarbaijan province in northwest Iran has witnessed a 150-percent increase in hosting foreign tourists during the past two years while being compared with the years before, a provincial official announced.

Such a percentage indicates significant growth in the attraction of tourists, Ahmad Hamzehzadeh told IRNA on Sunday.

Some 130,000 stays have officially been registered in the province during the period, he said while referring to the mentioned time from the taking office of the current Iranian government in August, 2021, till now.

Further, he noted that the tourists have come from 60 world countries including Turkey, Russia, Azerbaijan, Tatarstan, Iraq, Armenia, Japan, China, and Tajikistan.

Among all the tourists who visited the Iranian province, Chinese people have recorded a considerable number, according to the official.
