Islamabad, IRNA – Iran’s Ambassador to Islamabad Reza Amiri Moghaddam, and Pakistan’s Caretaker Minister for Planning and Development Sami Saeed have met and discussed bolstering mutual ties in the fields of energy and economy.

During the meeting on Thursday, the two sides reviewed various ways of cooperation between the two countries, including trade, the Pakistan-China joint economic corridor plan, and cooperation in the energy and economic sectors.

They also stressed the need to strengthen trade and communication between Iran and Pakistan and expressed a mutual desire to increase the volume of trade between the two countries.

Calling for the expansion of mutual ties in all trade and economic fields, especially cooperation within the framework of the ECO Organization, East-West corridor, plus bilateral and multilateral cooperation in ports of the two countries, Amiri Moghaddam stressed developing more border cooperation.

Saeed, for his part, referred to the deep-rooted ties between Iran and Pakistan, calling for strengthening bilateral relations.

Stressing the importance of existing border markets between the two countries, he proposed establishing a mechanism to facilitate easier trade exchanges.
