Islamabad, IRNA – A Pakistani court has suspended former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s three-year prison sentence on corruption charges, according to Pakistani media.

Suspending the former Prime Minister’s three-year prison on corruption charges, the president of Islamabad's high court said on Tuesday that Imran Khan’s trial was against the country's laws.

Khan's legal team had lodged an appeal on the grounds that he was convicted without being given the right to defend himself.

Khan was imprisoned on August 5 after being sentenced to three years jail for unlawfully selling state gifts during his tenure as prime minister from 2018 to 2022.
