-- Iran’s trout exports hit 4,000 tons
Iran has exported about 4,000 tons of trout to target markets including Russia and Arab nations since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21), said Arash Nabizadeh, the managing director of Iran’s Coldwater Fish Farmers Association, adding that hitting the Chinese market is on agenda.
Nabizadeh noted that, currently, due to water resources restriction, up to 115,000 tons of trout is produced in cold water farms across the country, however, the actual capacity of trout farming in the country is 196,000 to 200,000 tons per year.
-- Tourism Malaysia, Air Arabia hold joint destination seminars in Iran
Tourism Malaysia’s efforts to publicize its comprehensive promotional activities continue to the Middle Eastern region, Iran. The joint destination seminars was held in conjunction with Air Arabia flight operation to Malaysia since March 20, 2023 with daily flights from Sharjah to Tehran, Shiraz, Mashhad and four weekly flights to Lar in addition to three weekly flights from Abu Dhabi to Tehran.
The Director of Tourism Malaysia’s Dubai Office Madam Rosnah Mustafah and Tourism Malaysia officials from headquarter will lead the joint workshop and seminars with Air Arabia in two important cities of Iran - Shiraz and Isfahan, with the aim of introducing of Malaysia’s new destinations, attractions, festivals and the latest tourism product in the country.
-- Iranian offshore bank to be established overseas: Minister
Iranian Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ehsan Khandouzi announced on Saturday that for the first time, permission has been granted for an offshore bank, as the Central Bank of Iran is issuing the required approval.
One of the main priorities of the country for economic growth is to introduce measures that lead to an increase in investment in Iran, the minister said.

-- IME Weekly Trade Exceeds 3mn Tonnes
The Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) on Saturday reported that over 3,095,070 tonnes of commodities with a total trading value of more than $ 801 million were traded on its physical market, posting growths of 3.5% and 2.3% in value and volume of trades compared to the figures of the previous week.
The IME report said that its metals and minerals trading floor, over 2,497,916 tonnes of commodities, including 1,158,006 tonnes of cement, 595,000 tonnes of iron ore, 531,365 tonnes of steel, 206,000 tonnes of sponge iron, 7,233 tonnes of copper, 5,300 tonnes of aluminum, 800 tonnes of cast iron, 300 tonnes of coke and 290 tonnes of molybdenum concentrate with total value of $530 million were taraded in the last week.
-- Iraq, Iran Emphasize Expanding Agricultural Cooperation
Iran’s Minister of Agriculture Muhammad Ali Nikbakht said on Saturday that agricultural agreements have been reached between the two countries within the framework of predefined standards according to the market conditions.
In a meeting with Iraq’s Minister of Agriculture Abbas al-Maliki during the first meeting of the Iran-Iraq Joint Agricultural Cooperation Committee, Nikbakht pointed to the high scientific–technological potentials of the two countries in the agricultural sector and said that each of the two sides can take advantage of the existing facilities and scientific-specialized capacity of the other.
-- Chinese Ambassador Visits West Azarbaijan Province
Chinese Ambassador to Tehran Chang Hua said Saturday his country’s cooperation with Iran is at its best in various fields, voicing hope that both sides will further improve ties.
In a meeting Governor of West Azarbaijan province Muhammad Sadeq Motamedian, Chang said there are ample opportunities for cooperation in the areas of international trade with Europe, mining and the exchange of experience in the environmental protection.
The diplomat said a document has been signed to boost China’s trade with Europe via Iran, noting that the capacities of West Azarbaijan province and the Silk Road can be used in this regard.

-- Iran narrowly lose to Indonesia at 2023 FIBA Women's Asia Cup Division B final
Iran basketball team narrowly lost to Indonesia 55-54 in the final match of the 2023 FIBA Women's Asia Cup Division B on Saturday. Indonesia’s Nathania Claresta Orville scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
Negin Rasoulipour khameneh and Faezeh Shahriari scored 14 points each for Iran. Indonesia advanced to the FIBA Women's Asia Cup Division A as the winners.
-- Cartoon festival to highlight friendship between Iran, Brazil
An international cartoon, caricature and poster festival is planned to be held to enhance the friendship between Iran and Brazil, Masud Shojaei-Tabatabai, the secretary of the event, said in a press conference in Tehran’s Art Bureau on Saturday.
The festival will be held in both countries and will have the theme of ‘Resistance against Racism’, Shojaei-Tabatabai said. The caricature section of the event is dedicated to the theme of Pele and Vinicius Junior, two world-renowned football players, who have always faced racism due to their skin color, he added.
-- Iran spends $335m a year on foreign students
Some $335 million is spent annually on the education of foreign students in Iran, Mehdi Fayyazi, the deputy minister of education for international affairs and schools abroad, has said.
The figure is tantamount to 527 dollars per student, he added.
He stressed that there is no discrimination between Iranian students and foreign nationals in the country. About 22,000 classrooms nationwide have been allocated to the education of foreign nationals, IRNA quoted Fayyazi as saying.
