Zahedan, IRNA – An Iranian official in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan has announced that 733 people went to hospitals and medical centers after a dust and sand storm here.

Some 58 from the total number have been hospitalized, Majid Mohebbi, the director general of the crisis management center in the province, told IRNA on Sunday.

According to the official, the incident happened after a new wave of wind that lifted sand and dust and caused storms in several counties of the province since four days ago.

He further referred to heart and lung problems including problems in the eyes as the main reasons led people to go to hospitals.

The director general of the provincial weather forecast office Mohsen Heydari has said wind speed with a maximum 94km/h will affect Zabol in east of Sistan-Baluchestan, predicting strong wind and dust and sand storm for north of the province by the next three days.

According to a statement released by Sistan-Baluchestan’s governorate general public relations office on Saturday, closure had been announced for all banks and offices in five counties across the province on August 13.
