Tehran, IRNA - Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has emphasized that the Islamic Republic’s foreign policy priority is to pay special attention to the East Asia region.

Qalibaf said at a bilateral meeting between the Iranian and Vietnamese parliamentary delegations in Tehran on Tuesday that fortunately, there are proper amicable ties between the two nations and their presidents, and that in recent years, parliamentary relations helped expand the ties.

The Iranian speaker described the first trip by the chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Vuong Dinh Hue to Iran as a turning point in the development of ties between the two nations in various economic, cultural and social dimensions.

He further said that the two states of Iran and Vietnam have a long common experience in confronting oppression and injustice in their records.

We express gratitude to you for traveling to Tehran along with a high-ranking delegation of political, economic and social arenas, Qalibaf said, adding that we welcome it and hope that during the meetings that have been arranged for your economic companions in the Iran Chamber of Commerce, both sides can achieve their economic goals.

The Vietnamese chairman, for his part, appreciated his Iranian counterpart for inviting him to travel to Iran, saying that we hoped the trip would help strengthen ties between Iran and Vietnam still more.

He went on to say that Vietnam attaches great importance to Iran’s significant role in the Middle East, and that we pay attention to strengthening friendship and collaboration between the two countries in various parliamentary, governmental, municipality and friendship groups.

Iran and Vietnam enjoy a 50-year history of relationship with each other, which proves that there is not any obstacle in the way of strengthening collaboration between the two nations.
