Tehran, IRNA - South Africa’s Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor has underlined that there must be less reliance on the US dollar.

On the sidelines of the Russia-Africa summit, she made an interview with Russia Today, pointing to relationship with Russia, the upcoming BRICS summit, global economy and other issues stirring the world today.

"We need to have greater fairness in world trade and we need to ensure again that financial systems and institutions" are not politicized to a level that they become a barrier to trade; so, having greater diversity is extremely important, cause once you attach to one currency or one system, Pandor said.

The South African foreign minister also argued that BRICS group of fast-developing economies, including Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa is against “weaponizing” anything.
