Tehran, IRNA- The 17th edition of the Tehran Auction has showcased an impressive collection of modern and contemporary Iranian art, setting a remarkable record with the sale of 100 art pieces worth more than 2.11 trillion rials (nearly $4.35 million).

The prestigious auction, held at the Parsian Azadi Hotel in northern Tehran on July 21, 2023, presented a carefully-curated selection of 110 works from 100 prominent Iranian artists.

An astounding 91% of the artworks found new owners during the event, and one particular masterpiece, the “Untitled” by renown Iranian poet and painter Sohrab Sepehri, sold for nearly $440,000-- a new record in the Iranian art market.

Following closely behind was an artwork by Kourosh Shishegaran, which sold for approximately $350,000. Another remarkable piece from Sohrab Sepehri’s acclaimed “Lonely Trees” series claimed the third spot, fetching approximately $255,000.

Each year, the Tehran Auction draws attention to the immense talent of Iranian artists and provides a platform for the appreciation and acquisition of their exceptional artworks.
