Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has said that Iran and Algeria are friends at difficult times.

"According to the testimony of history, Iran and Algeria have been friends in each other's difficult days," Amirabdollahian wrote on his Twitter account in Farsi late on Saturday while referring to a meeting earlier in the day with his Algerian counterpart Ahmed Attaf in Tehran.

He said that in the meeting with his Algerian counterpart the two sides had talked about Iraqi-Imposed War on Iran in the 1980s and the efforts made by Algeria to mediate between in the conflict.

We agreed to accelerate cooperation in science, technology, industry, tourism, agriculture, and medicine, said the Iranian diplomat.
