Tehran, IRNA - Bulgaria, considered the gateway to the European Union, has huge potential for Iranian investment, especially as the country’s economy is largely managed by the private sector, says Iranian ambassador to Sofia.

“The economy of this country is privately managed, and previous strict controls are not imposed on it, which makes all these factors important capacities and incentives for investment,” Alireza Irvash said on Wednesday while visiting the Iranian province of Zanjan.

"Some companies are adequately prepared for investment, but others only focus on domestic and neighboring markets due to lack of information," he told businessmen in the province.

Emphasizing that Bulgaria is considered the gateway to the European Union, the ambassador said that "the existence of a land border crossing in this country and the passage of 4,000 trucks per year through its territory is another capacity that helps facilitate the transportation of goods."
