Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s new ambassador to Senegal has met with Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian before departing Tehran for Dakar to begin his mission in the African country.

During a meeting on Monday, Hassan Asgari presented a report to Amirabdollahian on the latest developments in Senegal and offered his plans to expand relations between Tehran and Dakar.

The foreign minister, for his part, highlighted the importance of expanding relations between Iran and African countries, especially with Senegal, and called for efforts to further expand ties with Dakar in all fields, especially is trade and economy.

Asgari has previously served as political attaché in Iran’s embassies in Austria and Sri Lanka, deputy ambassador in Croatia and Georgia, and assistant director general of the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Strategic Planning and Monitoring Office.
