Tehran, IRNA – Mehdi Tartar, the former coach of Iran's Zob Ahan football club, has been appointed to lead Malavan Bandar Anzali into the new season of Iran's Persian Gulf Pro League.

Prior to Tartar's appointment on Monday, Mazyar Zare had served as Malavan's coach.

Under Zare, Malavan finished 12th in the Iranian league last season.

Tartar’s introduction ceremony is slated to be held on Wednesday.

Malavan’s new coach was in charge of Zob Ahan last season where his team finished ninth in the 16-team table table with 36 points.

Persepolis won Iran's professional league last season with 66 points.
