Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has announced that the Islamic Republic is against war and believes that the Ukraine crisis has a political solution.

Iran has proposed a political solution for the crisis because any effort to help arm one side of the war will lead to an escalation of tensions and will undermine stability in the region, Amirabdollahian said in a phone conversation on Sunday with his Danish counterpart Lars Løkke Rasmussen.

During the phone call, the two foreign ministers also exchanged views about the latest issues in bilateral relations.

Amirabdollahian described Tehran-Copenhagen ties as historical while underlining the importance of continuing regular negotiations to enhance cooperation.

For his part, the Danish foreign minister said that talks with the Islamic Republic are important for his country.

In the end, the two sides agreed to work on a mechanism for fostering consular and political consultations between Iran and Denmark.
