Bandar Abbas, IRNA – A 4.9-magnitude earthquake that hit areas in southern Iran early on Wednesday caused no damage to people or properties in the region, according to a local official.

Head of the crisis management center of the southern province of Hormozgan Mehrad Hassanzadeh told IRNA on Wednesday that his department had received no reports of damage or casualties after the earthquake in Fareghan City, located to the north of Hormozgan, at 08:42 local time. 

Hassanzadeh went on to say that two quick response teams had been dispatched to the area where the quake occurred.

He further announced that the situation of roads, water pipelines, and electricity systems in the region is stable.
