Tehran, IRNA – Iran's nuclear achievements have been used to help people suffering from cancer, and as Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has said the country has never sought nuclear weapons as it is forbidden in Islam, according to President Ebrahim Raisi.

Raisi made the remarks during a Sunday tour of an exhibition of Iranian nuclear achievements in Tehran.

He said that the exhibition indicates how the Iranian scientists turned risks posed by foreign sanctions into an opportunity.

Referring to the effects of the nuclear technology on the people’s lives with regard to different health, treatment, agriculture and industrial issues, the Iranian president said that “today, millions of people have been saved from diseases," thanks to using the nuclear technology in Iran.

Some countries believe that creating power means producing nuclear weapons, Raisi said, adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly announced it will never seek production of nuclear weapons due to its religious beliefs and the decrees issued by the Supreme Leader.
