Tehran, IRNA – A crew member working on board a Ryanair flight en route to the Israeli-occupied territories caused an uproar after saying the flight was about to land in “occupied Palestine".

The flight, which was headed from the Italian city of Bologna, was on its way to Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv in the Israeli-occupied territories this week when the incident happened.

A spokesperson for Ryanair apologized for the incident, saying it was an “innocent mistake” by a “junior crew member".

The incident also sparked a great deal of debate online, with Zionists censuring it and Palestinians voicing their satisfaction with it.

“I wish I’d been on this flight when the Ryanair attendant announced the plane’s destination as Palestine,” one person wrote on Twitter.

“Oh Ryanair, this is why we love you so,” another person said, adding, “Ireland stands with Palestine".
