“Our gathering must send out a strong message that the world is multipolar, that it is rebalancing, and that old ways cannot address new situations,” Jaishankar said on Thursday, addressing the BRICS meeting held in Cape Town, South Africa.
“We are a symbol of change and must act accordingly,” he said.
He said it is imperative that the BRICS members demonstrate sincerity with regards to initiatives to reform the global decision-making, including on decisions adopted in the UN Security Council.
The Indian foreign minister also said that at the heart of the problems facing the world is “economic concentration” that leaves too many nations at the mercy of too few.
