Moscow, IRNA - Iran’s Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali has said that despite all media hype over relations between Iran and Russia, the Islamic Republic is of the position that it stands to benefit from growing ties with Russia.

In an interview with IRNA published on Saturday, Jalali said that Iran has a very large capacity to cooperate with Russia as the world's ninth-largest economy,.

Russian imports account for around $300 billion per annum, he said, adding that the Islamic Republic can have a share from such a market by increasing its exports to Russia.

Despite all current media hype over Iran-Russia relations, Iran’s interest is in enhanced ties with Russia, he underlined.

The envoy went on to say that Iran and Russia have mutual interests in expanding their ties.

Jalali said that constructive interactions in the field of culture should be established between Iran and Russia so that the two sides can achieve stability in bilateral relations as they improve their economic ties.
