Tehran, IRNA - Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has urged members of the Islamic ummah to forge unity in the face of plots to sow discord among Muslims around the world.

President Raisi made the remarks while delivering a speech at an Islamic center in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Intellectual deviations and discords in the Muslim world have nothing to do with the religion and the holy Qur'an, the Iranian president said in the speech.

He pointed out that today’s opposition to Iran is because the Islamic country does not want to be controlled by hegemonic powers.

With the rise of emerging powers, the era of the US domination has come to an end, said Iran's chief executive.

Raisi further said that if the West is really looking for democracy in other parts of the world, it should let the Palestinians decide their own destiny.

"Let the Yemeni and Afghan people decide for themselves. Why are you interfering in their affairs?," the Iranian president asked.

He stressed that the Western countries and the US are in fact seeking hegemony and want to plunder the wealth of other nations.

President Raisi arrived in Jakarta early on Tuesday for a two-day state visit to Indonesia.
