Kanaani's remarks came on Saturday in reaction to the interventionist statements by some American and European officials against the Islamic Republic.
Criticizing the West’s policies, Kanaani said that instead of interfering in the internal affairs of other countries and putting up a seemingly humanitarian face, Western politicians should listen to the voices of their own citizens and spend their time on ensuring their human rights and citizenship demands are met.
The widespread violation of the basic rights of Western citizens such as freedom of speech, as well as using violence by police against protesters in Europe and in the US while issuing political statements about the internal laws of other countries clearly indicate how the West is using human rights as a leverage to advance its goals and to realize illegitimate political interests, he said.
It is ridiculous that countries that violate human rights and keep silent in the face of the Zionist regime’s crimes against the Palestinians, and even support the Zionists, make comments on the implementation of court orders against criminals who threaten the peace and security of Iranians, Kanaani added.
He noted that Europe and the United States do not have the legal, judicial, and moral authority to comment on judicial and human rights issues in other countries.
