Tehran, IRNA – Head of the most dominant Arab organization in the Persian Gulf region has highlighted the need to boost relations as well as economic and transportation interactions with the Islamic Republic of Iran, according to the Iranian transportation minister Mehrdad Bazrpash.

Bazrpash made the announcement after a meeting with Secretary General of GCC bloc of Arab countries Jassim Al-Budaiwi in Abu Dhabi on Monday. 

“The members of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council emphasize cooperation without the interference of [other] governments and seek the expansion of relations with Iran," said the minister following the meeting. 

He said Tehran welcomes investment by regional countries in its infrastructure projects while reiterating the need to expand ties with Arab countries in the region.

“Iran has diverse and suitable investment opportunities, and there is an opportunity for the Persian Gulf countries to participate,” said Bazrpash.

The minister and his deputies were in Abu Dhabi to attend the Middle East Rail 2023.
