An announcement on the anti-terrorism operation was made by the public relations office of the IRGC’s branch in Fars, known as Sepah Fajr, on Monday.
It said that the main element of the operational and media network of “Daesh Khorasan”, an affiliate to the Daesh terror group, had been under intelligence surveillance since 2019.
The person was active in some provinces, including Tehran, where he tried to persuade extremist elements to join the terrorist group, the Sepah Fajr announcement said.
The Daesh terror group is responsible for a number of attacks in Iran in recent years. The attacks include a shooting incident at the Shah Cheragh holy shrine in Shiraz, the capital city of Fars Province, in October 2022 that claimed the lives of 13 civilians.
