Moscow, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian says he is hopeful that Syria and Turkiye can agree to a political solution to the crisis in Syria during a quadrilateral meeting in Moscow that also features Iran and Russia.

Amirabdollahian made the remarks speaking to IRNA upon arrival in Moscow early on Wednesday hours before the start of the quadrilateral meeting on Syria.

Last year, diplomatic efforts were made to prevent a new conflict in the region and on the joint border between Syria and Turkiye, Amirabdollahian said, while stressing the need to focus on a political solution at the Moscow meeting.

About the Moscow meeting, the spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Nasser Kanaani had already said that the Islamic Republic always emphasizes the need for Syria and Turkiye to resolve their disputes.
