Qais made the remarks in a Sunday meeting with Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber.
He said in the meeting that Oman is determined to strengthen bilateral relations with Iran.
The Omani minister also called for the conclusion of talks on a preferential trade agreement between the two countries and expressed hope that Muscat and Tehran could open a new chapter in their trade relations after an immediate visit by Sultan of Oman to Iran.
Iran's Mokhber, for his part, said in the meeting that Tehran and Muscat enjoy strong and friendly relations, adding that efforts should be made to expand the economic relations between the two countries.
Referring to expansive fields of cooperation between Iran and Oman, such as energy, industry, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment, Mokhbar said that Iran has made a great deal of progress in various industrial fields and is ready to improve cooperation with Oman in those areas.
