Moscow, IRNA – Iran’s Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali has said that Russia would like to establish direct flight routes between cities in the country and Iranian tourist destinations of Isfahan and Shiraz, among others.

In an interview with IRNA published on Saturday, Jalali said that direct flights are currently carried out between Tehran and Moscow via Iran's Mahan Airways and Russian airlines Aeroflot and Nordwind Airlines.

However, he said that direct flights can be launched between Rasht in Iran and Astrakhan in Russia, two cities that are currently linked through a shipping route.

Jalali said aviation officials of Iran and Russia have been holding talks to increase the number of direct flights between the two countries to boost tourism and bilateral trade.
