Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has said that expansion of relations with Uzbekistan in different economic, cultural, and tourism areas would lead to increased trade between the two countries.

Qalibaf made the remarks in a meeting in Tehran on Saturday with his Uzbek counterpart Nurdinjon Ismoilov.

The Iranian speaker also said that further cooperation with Uzbekistan on the International North-South Transit Corridor (INSTC) project is top on Iran's agenda.

He referred to the ongoing situation in Afghanistan and said that all the neighboring countries have to join efforts to help Afghanistan so that an inclusive government would bring about security and progress to the country.

Ismoilov arrived in the Iranian capital at the head of a delegation last night upon an official invitation by Qalibaf.
