Tehran, IRNA- Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi will travel to Damascus for an official two-day visit on Wednesday, at the formal invitation of his Syrian counterpart, Bashar al-Assad.

During his trip to Syria, the first by an Iranian president in over a decade, President Raisi will explore ways to expand political, economic and trade cooperation with the Arab country.

Heading a high-ranking politico-economic delegation, President Raisi will arrive in Damascus on Wednesday to hold talks with senior Syrian officials, IRNA reported.

The president will also attend a joint meeting of Iranian and Syrian businessmen, and is also expected to visit the religious sites of Syria.
