Moscow, IRNA – Chairman of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin has said that Russia and Iran follow their own independent foreign policies.

The two countries have close cooperation when it comes to dealing with countries that try to dominate others and ensure their own security, Volodin said through a message sent to an international conference entitled “Russian-Iranian Cooperation in Changing World” held in the Russian capital Moscow on Wednesday.

The official said that after sanctions were imposed by the West on Russia, Moscow came to the conclusion that those who had underlined the importance of developing cooperation with Iran were right.

Further, he stressed the need to increase the level of trade exchange between Russia and Iran.

The international conference on “Russian-Iranian Cooperation in Changing World” was held in Moscow with participation of President of Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Mohammad Sheikholeslami, Iran’s Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali, and a number of Russian experts.
