Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s security guards have succeeded in confiscating around 200,000 liters of gasoline in waters off Minab, in southern Hormozgan province.

A local commander of the Iranian border patrol force Bahador Esmaili said on Monday that marine guards at Minab border force headquarters had received information about a consignment of smuggled fuel in the area and investigated the issue.

Border patrol officers were then dispatched to the point where a number of smugglers released their huge gasoline plastic bags into the sea and fled the scene, but the officers managed to seize a vessel used for shipping the fuel, Esmaili said.

The border guards discovered some 198,000 liters of gasoline from three plastic bags being carried by the vessel, he added.

The commander also said that three smugglers had been arrested during the raid.
