Tehran, IRNA – Iranian airline Mahan Air has launched its first direct flight from Tehran to Minsk, capital of Belarus, amid growing relations between the two countries.

A Wednesday report by the IRNA said that the launch of the flight route on April 18 by Mahan Air was in line with agreements reached between Iran and Belarus during a recent visit of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to Tehran.

It said the flight had landed in Minsk on Tuesday while carrying Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary, and Iranian Expatriates Affairs Alireza Bigdeli.

It said Bigdeli was to hold talks with Belarusian officials on plans to continue direct flights and to provide visa facilities for nationals of Iran and Belarus.
