Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s ambassador to Rome has termed the Israeli regime as an apartheid regime, and said the regime's aggression against the Palestinian people has made it necessary to support the Palestinians’ rights.

Mohammad Reza Sabouri made the remarks at a conference held in Cavour Conference Center in Rome, Italy, on Friday concurrent with International Quds Day with participation of a number of the human rights activists and scholars.

The Zionist regime of Israel has committed lots of crimes against the oppressed Palestinian people during its 70 scandalous years of life, the ambassador said while referring to the Zionists’ crimes, settlement and oppression during the period as a dark record.

Further, the envoy condemned the recent Zionist aggression against the Muslims at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Speaking at the conference, some participants expressed hope that the Palestinian cause would gain victory through Resistance.

Father of the Islamic Republic – Imam Khomeini – has named the last Friday of the holy fasting month of Ramadan as World Quds Day over four decades ago. The Day coincided with April 14 in 2023.
