Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Rahman Amouzad has bagged a first gold medal for the team representing the country in the freestyle section of the 2023 Asian Wrestling championship in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Amouzad won men’s 65-kilogram gold medal after beating Tulga Tumur Ochir of Mongolia in the final match on Thursday.

The wrestler, a world number one in his weight category, had beaten rivals from Kazakhstan and Japan before reaching the final.

Morteza Ghiassi of Iran also finished fifth in the 70-kilogram category of men’s freestyle on Thursday.
