Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri Kani has described the recent rapprochement between Iran and Saudi Arabia as a major development in the Persian Gulf which would bring about peace and stability to both the region and the world.

Ali Bagheri Kani made the remarks during the 30th meeting on political consultations between the Iranian and Japanese foreign ministries on Saturday.

Yamada Shigeo, the senior deputy foreign minister of Japan, led the delegation of his country to the meeting.

Bagheri, who also serves as Iran’s top negotiator in major international talks, said in the meeting that improved cooperation between Tehran and Tokyo will benefit both countries and will not impose any threat on other states.

Further, he referred to recent crimes committed by Zionist regime of Israel in the occupied Palestinian territories as he stressed the need to take deterrent measures against such criminal acts.

For his part, Yamada said Japan is determined to develop its ties with Iran beyond the normal level of bilateral relations.
