Tehran, IRNA – The age of breast cancer development in Iran is 10 years lower than the global average, according to the head of the Cancer Research Institute of Iran.

Mohammad Esmaeil Akbari said on Saturday that the average age of  breast cancer development in Iran is between 45 and 55, lower than a global the average of 50 to 60.

Akbarisaid a main cause of the issue is because Iran has a relatively young population.

Breast cancer has overtaken lung cancer to become the most common form of cancer in Iran, he said.
