Mahmoud Hashemi, Director of the Al-Itihad Strategic Research Center, told IRNA in an exclusive interview that the relations between Iran and Iraq is a strategic, religious, political and social relation; so, when the ice between two neighboring states of Iraq, that are Iran and Saudi Arabia, melts; definitely, the positive reflex of the event will be seen in the regional space between the two countries, which is Iraq.
The five rounds of talks between Saudis and Iranians in Iraqi capital Baghdad were not only for diplomacy and mere mediation, but for the interests of Iraq, he noted.
Regarding economic aspect of the agreement, it can open a new window to all countries inside the Iraqi soil, he said, adding that Iran’s economy minister’s visit to Iraq bore fruit for establishing free industrial zone near Iran-Iraq borderline, and that Saudi Arabia’s investment in Iran or Iraq can be fruitful for all.
The Iraqi analyst went on to say that the agreement can create an opening for regional states, including Iran, Saudi Arabia and Iraq, in terms of religious aspects; thus, the decrease of sensitivities can pave the ground for social, economic and political cooperation.
He made the remarks on the sidelines of a joint meeting organized by Al-Qama and Al-Qalam institutes aimed at reviewing the impacts of Iran-Saudi Arabia agreement in the wake of international clashes such as Russia-Ukraine war, the Zionist regime’s internal affairs, energy challenges and economy.
