Tehran, IRNA – Spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry says that the so-called advocates of human rights solely lecture others about human rights and never practice what they preach.

In a Sunday statement about ongoing anti-government protests in France,  Kanaani criticized the French police for not respecting human rights and said that the way the protestors have been treated in France is a typical example of how human rights are observed in the "Garden of Europe".

"There are many such examples in the United States and Europe, " he said.

Tens of thousands of people demonstrated in Paris on Saturday to protest French Senate's approval of a government decision to raise retirement age.
