Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani has categorically condemned military attacks by the Zionist regime on targets in the Syrian capital city Damascus and its suburbs.

Kanaani tweeted on Sunday that the airstrikes on some residential buildings, which left some people killed and injured, are firmly censured.

The fact that the new strikes by the Zionist regime occurred concurrently with attacks by the Daesh terrorist group against the Syrian nation indicates the link and coordination between the two terrorist entities, which is a natural and inherent connection, Kanaani said adding that the Syrian people have already been suffering from the aftermath of the recent destructive earthquake and these two entities are trying to inflict more pain and agony on the bereaved people.

The Iranian diplomat also described the Western states’ silence in the face of the repeated violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria by the aggressive Zionist regime as shameful, urging the international community and accountable organizations in particular the UN Security Council to show a serious, fast and effective reaction to the aggressions of the terrorist Zionist regime against a member state of the United Nations.
