Tehran, IRNA – Ceremonies to celebrate the 44th anniversary of the victory of Iran’s Islamic Revolution have been held in several countries, including Russia, Denmark and South Korea, where high-ranking political officials were in attendance.

The ceremony in Russia was held in the capital Moscow on Friday.

Hundreds of top military and state Russian officials along with foreign ambassadors to the country as well as cultural and religious figures were in attendance.

Participants congratulated Iran’s Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali on the anniversary of the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution that brought an end to the Western-backed Shah regime.

The Iranian ambassador referred to “plots and impediments” by certain foreign powers against his country over the past 44 years, saying that those powers exerted pressure on Iran by imposing the eight-year war in the 1980s and through terrorism and sanctions, and recently through hybrid warfare.

Despite that, the Islamic Republic has managed to attain great scientific and economic achievements with the help of God and thanks to popular support, Jalali added.

On the foreign policy front, the Iranian diplomat said that his country always backs peace, justice, and wisdom while rejecting aggression, bullying, sanctions, and unilateral measures.

Alexander Valentinovich Novak, the Russian deputy prime minister, hailed Iran as a key player in global politics and economy, saying that the Islamic Republic is an example of a harmonic combination of religious rules and democracy.

Elsewhere in Europe, a similar ceremony was held in Denmark to celebrate the 44th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

That ceremony was hosted by the Iranian Embassy in Copenhagen Afsaneh Nadipour, who spoke about her country’s achievements over the past years in different political, social as well as cultural, and scientific fields, praising Iranian women for playing their part in accomplishing those achievements.

She said that assistance to develop international cooperation is high on the agenda of the Islamic Republic’s foreign policy, and criticized Western states for failing to fulfill their promises towards Iran under the 2015 nuclear deal by imposing “economic terrorism” against the Iranian nation.

Similar comments were echoed by the Iranian Ambassador to South Korea during a ceremony to celebrate the victory anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.

Saeed Badamchi hosted a group of South Korean political, economic, and parliamentary officials, among others, on Thursday night during the ceremony held in the capital Seoul.

He said that the Iranian people have been deciding their political and social fate through democratic tools for more than four decades now.

He also praised Iran’s development in different sectors, including science and technology, which he said have been achieved despite obstacles created by enemies.

In the US, diplomats and envoys from different countries came together at the Iranian Representative Office to the United Nations in New York to commemorate the anniversary victory of the Islamic Revolution.

A number of UN officials also participated in the ceremony that was held at the Iranian Representative Office, congratulating the country’s permanent envoy to the UN Saeed Iravani on the occasion.

Iravani presented a card to his guests, which displayed Iran’s map with the Persian Gulf on one side, and the Edict of Cyrus on the other side.
