Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian on Thursday condemned a recent terrorist attack in Afghanistan, noting that terrorism is a shared enemy of regional countries.

He made the remarks in a phone conversation with his Afghan counterpart Amir Khan Muttaqi a day after a terrorist incident in front of Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs that killed and injured a number of the ministry’s employees.

He sympathized with the families of the victims and wished speedy recovery for those injured in the incident.

"Yesterday's terrorist attack at the entrance of Afghanistan’s Foreign Ministry was so sad and we strongly condemn it," Amirabdollahian said.

He said that what happened in Kabul on Wednesday and what took place in Shah Charagh holy shrine in Shiraz, central Iran, a while ago have the same origin and a unified policy is required to counter such terrorist activities.

The Afghan caretaker minister, for his part, urged the need for more enhanced cooperation of regional countries to strongly counter terrorism.
