Tehran, IRNA – Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Monday that the issue of scientific progress and achieving cutting-edge science should not be forgotten and paying attention to religious and revolutionary ideas shouldn't lay ground for ignoring scientific progress.

Ayatollah Khamenei received a group of members of the Union of Islamic Students Associations in Europe for a meeting here in Tehran on Monday.

Referring to the significance of Islamic Associations, Ayatollah Khamenei stated that taking steady steps, having an impact on the surrounding environment, and explaining the new message of the Islamic Republic were among the missions of Islamic Associations.

The Islamic Associations were formed to strengthen the intellectual and doctrinal foundations of the members themselves, besides influencing the surrounding environment, but Islamic Associations outside Iran are to introduce the fundamental and central thought of the Islamic Republic, the Supreme Leader noted.

Considering the explanation of the principles of the Islamic Republic, including the link between republicanism and Islamism as a key task, Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that what the Islamic Republic has offered as a new form of governance besides the involvement of the people, is that the principles of religion and faith are also effective.

Ayatollah Khamenei also emphasized keeping the Islamic Associations up to date while sticking to the principles.

The issue of scientific progress and achieving cutting-edge science should not be forgotten, the Supreme Leader stressed, adding that paying attention to religious and revolutionary ideas shouldn't lay ground for ignoring scientific progress.
