Tehran, IRNA – Mohammad-Reza Farzin was introduced as the new governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) in Thursday cabinet meeting of President Ebrahim Raisi.

Mohammad-Reza Farzin holds a PhD in economy and is a faculty member of the Scientific Board of Allameh Tabatabai University as an associate professor.

He has a record of writing many scientific articles, but the point that has been kept in mind for the government for his choice is the numerous executive posts he has had in banking and monetary fields.

It has been a year that Farzin has been serving as the managing director of the Bank Melli of Iran (BMI), and from 2013 to 2021 he was the head of Board of Directors of Kar Afarin Bank. From the year 2019 to 2021 he was also the managing director of that bank.

Member of the Council of Money and Credits as the representative of the president, member of the Board of Directors of Agriculture Bank, secretary of the Workgroup for Country's Banking System Evolution, and secretary of Workgroup for Evaluating the National Money, are some other responsibilities of Farzin in monetory and banking system of the country in previous years.

The head of Board of Governors of the National Development Fund, deputy economy and treasury minister, and secretary of the Headquarters for Goal-Orienting the Subsidies in the 10th government, as a major national project have been Farzin's other responsibilities.

The 13th government had earlier announced its will for management alteration in national and provincial levels, which began with changing the roads of transportations minister, the head of government's Information Dissemination Council, three governors, so far, and the CBI governor today, are moves in that respect so far.
