Zarghami was welcomed by Iraqi officials upon arrival in the capital Baghdad on Saturday night.
He is due to participate in the Sixth Forum of Ancient Civilizations on Sunday.
Representatives from Greece, China, Egypt, Italy, Peru, Bolivia, Armenia and Mexico are also in attendance.
