Tehran, IRNA – An Interior Ministry official in Iran said on Saturday that more than 40 million dollars of damage were caused during riots in the country over the past two months.

That included the damage caused to government buildings and public places as well as personal property of people, added Majid Mirahmadi, Deputy Interior Minister for Security and Law Enforcement.

He went on to say that the damaged personal property included houses, shops and cars.

Earlier on Saturday, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council issued a statement on the riots that followed the death of young woman Mahsa Amini in mid-September.

The statement said that more than 200 people, including security forces, civilians and rioters, have been killed in the unrest.
